Preparing for Christmas Week Three: Living Room

After a week recovering from the birth of my beautiful girl, I am back!

This week, we are working in our living rooms.

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
Psalm 133:1

Don't forget to take a before picture and post in our group! After pictures will be posted in another thread this weekend.

We'll begin with decluttering in this area like we have others. Gather a few bags or boxes to sort trash, give away, go to another room and keep into. Start in one corner or on one surface and work your way around the room. Don't let this overwhelm you. Work in short bursts if that helps!

Once you have decluttered, start with the deep clean. Break out the vacuum and baking soda and get those carpets really smelling nice! Shampoo them if you own a shampoo-er. If you have hard floors, vacuum, mop and shine them.

Clean your windows and wipe down your switch plates. Wipe down your baseboards and dust other horizontal surfaces. Clean out your fireplace in preparation for colder weather. This is a great time to schedule someone to come inspect it if needed!

Vacuum all your furniture and polish your wood surfaces. If you have leather or microfiber, take a moment to care for these as well.

Now, start putting away items and decorating.

Remember: Containers are your friends!

As you decorate, think deeply about how you want your family to spend time together in this room. Fill this room with love, wisdom and fun!

Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.
Proverbs 14:1

Blessings,

Audrey
