Every year, I make "Christmas Cocoa" mix to gift in mason jars.
I love to give homemade gifts, especially food. It is so warm, loving and simple. It is always enjoyed. Below is my recipe for Christmas Cocoa. You can package these with peppermint sticks, chocolate chips, marshmallows or other favorite toppings in little cellophane bags.
This recipe is meant to fit in a pint size mason jar
3 cups sugar
2.5-3 cups good 100% cocoa
1 Tbs fine salt
Layer in your mason jar or whisk until well mixed in a bowl then pour in.
For added flavor, add a teaspoon of cinnamon and a pinch of clove or for something totally different try a pinch of cayenne for a Mayan style hot chocolate.
This recipe should be added to 1 cup of warmed milk. 1-3 Tbs is usually the preference. (If you put a peppermint leaf in the bottom of the cup it is simply divine!)
Gift with a tag that has measuring instructions and ingredients along with toppings and a sweet mug for beautiful package.
